I'm back, back to home and to great State of Minni.

What can I say, volunteering ever since. Honestly I can say that I believe volunteering is far more important than material things that take away our duty to each other. It has been terrific learning experience for me and the other students.

I have seen the true face America, and I will try to write about it alot. For me there is no point in preaching a mantra to any one, we all know the ills and goodness of this nation, what I will try to cover from my journal...........

1) My own perspective about the American South.............Not happy with the direction many southern states are headed. Not at all.
2) The people...........
3) Other volunteers............Think about college students on a road trip for few months......wild, open, and astoundingly ugly and beautiful.

4) Towns, cities, schools that have been our daily activities ever since..........traveling, stopping, off to barbecue wings at one of the many roadside restaurats, watching high school football at nights, or just chatting with locals.

I will be bit busy these days, with school starting on Tuesday, and probably will be in a hectic state for the next few months, I will try to update this, others I got rid of them, myspace, facebook, and student blogs have to wait another time.

Back to my political side, NOW Monday is labor day........

What Does Labor Day Mean To You?
Is it, just another day?
A day to look back the injustice many people have suffered without labor unions?
Or just a paid holiday, a day off to do nothing?

Dem, I'm really looking forward to reading all about your volunteer experiences.

Yeah, Dem, it's a day off, but you are right in that it should be more than that. I have my gripes about unions, but I know that without them, most of us would be screwed.

WELCOME BACK DEM!!!

Glad you had a great time and I look forward to hearing about your many adventures.

Labor Day: In today's world, I think we should focus not on us, but those disadvantaged people of the third world that are currently making OUR goods for pennies in horrible working conditions.

The sweatshops with small children slaving away, those are the humans that are truly currently suffering "Labor Crimes", not Americans, for the most part...

Jb....Yeah many will have the same gripes with the unions, but without them, as U said it could have been F-up.

Yeah, here in the US things have changed for better. With globalization, things could get worse in here. Me and U know, it's already worse for NW pilots, mechanics, and flight attendants.

I won't say much on my thoughts on unions, because I'll just get mad, but Dem, glad you're back.

It seems to me that, in addition to celebrating the labor movement, we could also celebrate the American belief in labor as restorative, as a way to better oneself, as a way to provide a better life for oneself and one's family. This has fueled American progress for a couple of centuries.

It is truly sad that even this idea is under attack.

It's so good to come here and see that you're back, brother! I can't wait to read about all your experiences from this summer and your insights on what you've seen.

I have to admit that I am one of the shallow people in that Labor Day was just an excuse for me to lounge around the house in my pajamas and watch some meaningless television. But you're absolutely right: people should never forget that there is a reason for Labor Day.

What's up, bro?! Glad to see you are back safe, sound and more the wiser. I can't wait to hear about your experiences. I was born in the deep, deep South (think Mobile, Alabama) and am interested to hear your viewpoint. I remember the good parts and suppose I was too young to be exposed to the ugly parts, since I moved when I was 10.
