We are in Mississippi, where one of out six lives in poverty. Sometimes in life, you must be prepared to always keep in your mind and heart that everything happens for a reason. I left not only knowing that what we are doing is chance of a life time, but that those we will meet may one day change our own lives for better. The lessons are endless, their faces are many, their lives are similar to ours, for they still live in first world nation. Ignored by the states, left in poverty, and drug addicted households, their lives are what we will be trusted and judged one day. For that, it was tough leaving, but the more we go to new town the more we just want to stay once we’re there.

I lived in Arkansas for 8 years. We used to say "thank God for Mississippi".
Not that my state has a lot of room to talk. We have pockets of poverty and despair here as well. Large pockets.
It's great to hear your enjoying what you are trying to do and believe me if i was in a town where most of the people were drug addicts i'd think i'd run not becuz id be scared just coz i wouldn't know what to do.

Dem, absorb everything, learn your lessons well, hold them close to your heart and then report back! Good to hear you're traveling safe and learning a lot.
Sounds like all is going well. Enjoy the trip, learn much and as your previous commenters have requested tell us all about it.
It's never easy to look on poverty.
I'm glad that your experiences are also giving you valuable life lessons.
