This era of inequality, economic insecurity, static benefits for workers, and the Republican's Bush League Economy. Let me scream, scream, and scream more.

As a union member for over 40 years now, I thank you for your support. Unions, despite the demonizing they've gotten in the MSM, are nothing more than what Bush et al is doing today - sticking together for each other!

My wife is a Biologist, PhD from Duke U., now teaching in S.C. I wish you the best on your career. It's certainly not easy, is it?

I don't know Dem. The wife was a teacher for 7 years and her union was a joke.

Horrible benefits, lowsey pay, no "real" help at all.

The future...thanks and welcome.

SOG...I will always side with teamsters.

Rocket...I give U teachers aren't a good example. I know many of them and it's my goal in the future(to teach), but still that's only few cases. My parents have always been union organizers, where ever they have lived and follow union work and I can tell you, pay isn't the #1 issue. More about dignity, right to organize, family leave, out-sourcing, job security, fight against racism, anti-women, bring cap between the CEO and the worker.

I just came back from the Wilson Library and was talking to one of my friends who's in Civil engineer program and works for the University. AFSCME's clerical, thechnical and health care workers at the University are going to strike in the next few days if the talks between them and the University fails. Also, some teachers are talking about working-out with them and that will also include students. When workers work as one, everyone benefits.

Unions are some good some bad. We should all line up with them on stuff like Mexicans driving trucks in this country and piss poor countries dumping their slave labor manufactured goods on Walmart and our economy. Manufacturing in this country for the unskilled is pathetic and it's the fault of company's that only look at the bottom line and unions bosses that sign extravagant long term labor agreements that unravel in the end and generally only try to line their own pockets

I'm not honestly sure where I stand on the whole labor unions issue. Sometimes I think they get a lot done, but other times I think they cut off their noses to spite their faces. You know what I mean? I take it on a case by case basis, I guess.
