Democrats' dramatic gains.......

House Speaker Dennis Hastert and the House Republican campaign chairman, Rep. Tom Reynolds, were given a sobering warning last week by senior GOP political operatives. They were told that on Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Democrats were sure to win the governorship of Virginia. After that, the warning continued, the watchword within the House majority would be: Every man for himself!... The consequences may be profound. As his approval rating dipped, Bush increasingly has been treated in Congress as a lame duck. Tuesday's Virginia outcome increases the propensity of Republican senators and House members not only to avoid their president on the campaign trail but also to ignore his legislative proposals" -- Chicago Sun-Times columnist Robert Novak.

Aaah, President Dubya. He has lost so much credibility (wait, did he ever have any?) and has been so ostracized from his own political party that you almost...ALMOST...have to feel sorry for the good ol' boy. But at the same time, liberals like you and I are gleefully clapping our hands, because President Bush is quite possibly the worst thing that ever happened to the conservative movement in America. He might just be single-handedly responsbile for the demise of the Republican party. And anything that puts Democrats, liberals or any open-minded person into a position of political power is a good thing.

Oh and by the way - Why IS Karl Rove not in prison?! And why is there such a culture of protecting public officials who do illegal and immoral things?!
